Top Ten Tuesday: Movie/TV Characters

Top Ten Tuesday is my new favorite thing! Sina beat me to the punch this week--you have to check out hers b/c she's the queen of slide shows (which I tried this time and totally love!!). This week there was just no way I could limit it to less than 11. But that was always one of our rules--the top ten moderators could change the rules if necessary. :)

1. Wolverine, X-Men: Because of him, I actually thought I liked action movies. Turns out I just like X-Men....or truthfully I just like Wolverine.

2. Maximus Decimus Meridius, Gladiator: Commander of the Roman Army. YES---we ARE entertained!

3. Count Laszlo de Almásy, The English Patient: This is still my favorite movie...for a lot of reasons, of which he is at the top of the list.

4. Rusty Ryan, Oceans 11-13: Classic case of liking the character better than the person. :)

5. Simon Templar, The Saint: It really was all downhill from here.

6. Hector, Troy: The valiant, noble and honorable son. When he died, so did this movie.

7. Will Tippin, ALIAS: While many of you loved Vaughn, Will was always my favorite. This particular episode of Will as the "Australian" Rock Star has been saved on my Tivo for over 2 years....and I even own the DVDs!

8. King Leonidas, 300: I hated this movie....and even left before it was over....that's how big of an impact he made!

9. James Bond: I have loved them all! But Pierce is my favorite.

10. Jason Bourne, Bourne movies: Can't really explain why I love this character....but I think it has something to do w/him being a skilled hairdresser....twice!

11. Edmond Dantes, The Count of Monte Cristo: I've loved all his characters--but the one where he arrives at his own party in a hot air ballon deserves special mention.

Thriller!

Last week, we (me, Hill, Zoey, Pop, Vanessa, Leann & Aubrey) went to Thriller. Thriller is the Halloween show that the Odyssey Dance Company puts on each year. It was good times for sure! Lots of spooky dances--even one w/Vampires! :)

Before and after the show, several of the dancers were walking around like zombies--w/cool makeup and old dresses. The funniest moment of the night was when Vanessa pointed out that one of them had her old A'Cappella dress on! And as we left---there she was, "dead" on the stairs of Kingbury Hall.

So...I snapped this pic of her and Zoey and Pop. Zoey was so funny b/c she wasn't even scared a bit and made me return at one point to wave bye to one of the zombies. :) It was a fun night!!

Karah's Cards

This week a few of my coworkers planned a fabulous luncheon/party/shower for Karah. I've mentioned Karah in a couple of previous posts....or you may have heard me talk about her from our fabulous trip to Australia & New Zealand in June. This is one of my most favorite pictures from Convention this summer and I am so glad I finally have a reason to post it here....

So I decided to make Karah some thank you cards b/c she'll need lots to thank everyone for her wedding presents. I borrowed this idea from an Australian demonstrator's web site....and I just love how they turned out so I thought I'd post them here to show ya'll....

These are super easy--the colored squares are 1-3/8" so you can use a punch. Then the black cardstock is 3" x 3". I love simple templates that can be easily adapted for different stamp sets....and so this one was perfect! Wow--I really need a totorial from Kristina about taking pictures!

Top Ten Tuesday!

Welcome to the first of many Top Ten Tuesdays. This one focuses on the most important top ten list: Male Celebrities.
10. Cheyenne Jackson: Either he's had a ridiculous amount of plastic surgery or he's the 2nd most amazingly beautiful person i've seen in the flesh.......oh who really cares about plastic surgery anyway! :) Plus--he can roller skate!

9. Kyle Chandler: Coach Taylor...just might be the perfect man!
8. Dean Roland: That hair! Plus everybody needs at least one rock star on their list!

7. Henry Cavill: My original vision of Edward Cullen, thanks to Stephenie Meyers, and I still can't think of anyone who would be such a perfect choice.
6. Tom Brady: the ONLY reason he's not #1 is....I don't really like football.

5. Leo DiCaprio: Why is he on my top ten? A better question is why ISN'T he on yours!

4. Gerard Butler: the fact that he convinced me to see Lara Croft Tombraider (stupidest movie in the world) two nights in a row earned him this spot! And that was waaaaay before the leather speedo & cape!

3. Clive Owen: Have you seen Elizabeth? No further explanation needed....

2. Eric Bana: Talk dark and handsome? Check. Australian? Check. Owns the screen even in a movie w/brad pitt? Check.
1. Kevin Richardson: I'm not sure what will bump him from this spot....so far nothing can.
Make sure to tell me which one is your favorite. :)

Portland

Last weekend I attended our Regional Seminar in Portland, Oregon. There were lots of great things that transpired from this amazing weekend...here are a few:

  • Two new jackets from a 2nd hand store for $12 each!!!
  • Bonding time w/Linda, Lori and Lisa
  • Delicious fish and chips!
  • Demonstrators!! I love them and love being in a room full of them. The energy and happiness I feel is really unexplainable!
  • Powell Book Store--a full block w/4 or 5 stories of books!
  • Lots of Krakow research....so amazing I just can't wait to go!
  • Free time to read Eclipse--I'm actually over 1/2 way finished now--but I'm still waiting for something exciting to happen....

Pic to the right is Me, Lisa Pope & Linda Hansen on the shuttle to downtown Portland.

Hey don't you think we should all do our top ten lists on our blogs?? I'm prepping mine and am planning to post it in the next week!!! Are you up for it?? If you don't have a blog yet, this is the perfect reason to start!! (and if you don't have a top ten, a top 3 or even 1 will do!!)

Happy Birthday Vanessa!

Vanessa's b-day celebration: Vanessa, Leann Schmidt, Amanda Edwards and moi

Today is Vanessa's birthday and I want her to know I love her and am thinking of her. :) Vanessa has been the most consistent, dependable and loving friend of my entire life. We've been friends for 2/3 of our lives--and that is mostly b/c of her skills at keeping in touch and caring enough to think about and call me every so often.

And, on top of all that, she is one of the funnest and funniest people I know. I can credit her in large part for helping me to come out of my shell--the one I so painfully wore in Jr. High and High School.

When I think of Vanessa, these are a few things that come to mind:
  • Almost missing our senior class picture b/c we were at Village Inn
  • Laughter, jokes and countless good times
  • Running into my mom at the mall during 2nd period...oh and getting caught a different time by the attendance ladies when we called in to excuse ourselves (did we ever go to class?)
  • Her fabulous family who I always look forward to seeing
  • Past and future trips (St. George, Las Vegas, CA, NYC)
  • Roller hockey at the Rec Center w/Jeff and all his hot friends
  • Introducing me to Diet Coke
  • Stamping & scrapbooking!
  • PGHS reunions (no, not the actual reunions, but the ones we have daily at Home Depot, kids sports games, and everywhere else in between....now if I could just have a sighting of Darek Robinson I'd be complete!)

I feel so lucky to be able to share my life w/someone as special as Vanessa! Thank you, Vanessa, for being so wonderful! And HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Collective Soul Concert!

So last Tuesday, Carrie, Shiloh and I went to the Collective Soul Concert at Saltair. We met up there with Jaimey and Erica too. The concert was AMAZING!!!!!!! It was one of the best concerts I've been to! I really loved it sooooooo much and was reminded how much I love live music! Plus they played almost every song I wanted to hear...and it was great to go to a concert w/men for once, instead of screaming teenage girls. In fact, there was next to no screaming at all! The biggest challenge was trying to see over the 6'5" guy standing right in front of me. :)

Here's all of us after the concert. After several tries, we managed to get one photo w/everyone's eyes open. :)

L to R: Erica, Carrie, Shiloh, me and Jaimey
And....here's a little video of currently my fave song of theirs: Why, Pt. 2. I am hesitating a little as I post this b/c:
  1. It's way too long. Sorry, I don't know how to edit video. Please don't let this affect your love or future love or possible love forthem. :)
  2. Ed Roland is a total spaz and this video does not at all capture his cool side....nor does it capture his voice or how amazing he sounds live! and
  3. It don't think it really captures any of the magic of that night......unless....you were there. So I guess I am mostly posting it for me--to spark my memory of how truly amazing it was!!!!

I am one lucky demonstrator...not only do I have one fabulous stamp club....but starting this month I have 2 TOTALLY AMAZING AND FUN STAMP CLUBS!!!

So last Thursday was the first meeting of our Salt Lake area club....and it was such a blast!! Amanda Romualdo was the hostess and she made some amazing chili, cornbread and cookies. :)

And here we are...stamping away! And of course I promised to take a picture of all the club members (including Amanda) but then I forgot so she's not pictured. :( But thanks anyway for being a fab hostess Amanda!

(And a special thanks to Amber Sechrist for making this photo possible....the biggest thanks for all goes to Matt for making the entire obsession a reality!!! :)

Is anyone else excited for the premiere tonight? I honestly can't wait!!

First Snowstorm of the Year!

Indeed, it snowed on Saturday! IN SEPTEMBER! So how did the West girls celebrate? THEY WENT SHOPPING! 7 of us (Hill, Zoey, Chaz, Ally, Micah, Carmindy and me) loaded into Ally's new Suburban and headed to Southtowne for lunch, shopping and to meet up w/Lindsey.

And as with all first snowstorms, there are many car accidents!! Uh oh: BAM! We got rear-ended getting off the freeway. So in our hour and half of waiting for 911 to pick up (yes, it's true, it was like 3 minutes), waiting for policeman to arrive and filling out paperwork, I had some time to snap a few photos.....

Zoey and Mikey....just after Mikey said "I am so FREAKING mad at that guy!"

Carmen and Chaz...I really hope this experience doesn't deter Chaz from becomming a shopper....so unfortunate for this to happen on his first shopping trip! You can see though, he didn't even wake up so hopefully he won't remember a thing!

Besides a few mild cases of whiplash, everyone was just fine!! We went on w/all our plans w/out a hitch. :)
